How's this for a statement? "I think it's our best roster." Those were the words of Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy on Monday afternoon ahead of the 76th Reese's Senior Bowl.
What does that mean for the Philadelphia Eagles? It's simple. There is a lot of talent to evaluate. The coaching staff and front office cannot attend as they prepare for the Super Bowl, but Inside The Iggles made the trip. Philly will surely look closer at some prospects who stood out on day one.
Here are the Day 1 attention-getters and guys to watch as potential prospects the Eagles should place on their draft board.
1. Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami
Unguardable... That is a word that many described University of Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo after day one of the Senior Bowl.
One NFC scout I spoke to said it best when evaluating his performance of Arroyo: "He's making himself some money today." Well, that's why they are out there, isn't it?
Arroyo, the 49th ranked prospect, according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, dropped a defender at one point on Tuesday morning as he won nearly every one of his one-on-one reps.
It wouldn't be surprising if he left Mobile on Thursday if he followed up the first day with a second stellar performance on day two.
Impressive. We'll see how he is valued as things move forward!
2. Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
Mike Green came into the week with some hype and definitely impressed in day one.
As the Eagles potentially prepare to select an EDGE rusher in the 2025 NFL Draft, look for Mike Green to be mentioned as a potential prospect.
At one point in the day, he beat a offensive lineman with an impressive move around the end, prompting a verbal reaction from those in attendance.
Philly has to make decisions about Josh Sweat in the offseason, and Brandon Graham is expected to retire. Add Green to your list of EDGE prospects.
3. Oluwafemi Oladejo, EDGE, UCLA
Oladejo is another player who made his name better known in day one.
The former UCLA Bruin looked very quick in drills today and his 6-foot-2 stature should raise no concern with what he's going to show in Mobile.
One NFL evaluator really liked the way that Oladejo soaked it all in, saying "He looks really coachable.. I want him on my team."
Oladejo could serve as a mid-round developmental player for the Eagles given that he has only been at a pass-rusher position for one season.
4. Tez Johnson, WR, Oregon
If Elijah Arroyo was 1a on offense, then Tez Johnson was 1b.
Johnson came into the week with weight concerns. He measured in at a low weight of 156 lbs, which would put him at one of the lighest players in the NFL.
He didn't disappoint on the field, though.
In the one-on-one period, Tez consistently created seperation for himself, winning many of the routes.
A few people who I have spoken to this week have compared him to Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell. He has the opportunity to go down to Mobile and open people's eyes just as Dell did just a few years ago.
Yep! Be sure to keep tabs on him.
5. Walter Nolen, EDGE, Ole Miss
This should come as no surprise. Walter Nolen came to town and handled business as usual in day one.
Standing by the defensive linemen as they did individual drills, Walter Nolen looked quicker and more powerful than the rest of the group, standing out as expected.
In the O-line vs D-Line matchups, Nolen used a swift inside move that 'wowed' those standing around the group. NFL evaluators seemed impressed with Nolen, though he did hold high expectations coming into Mobile.
Nolen, widely regarded as a first-round prospect, adds excitement to the defensive line group that many say is one of, if not the best position group in the draft.
We're off to a tremendous start in Mobile. Keep it locked. We'll continue to keep you posted on the week's proceedings.
