Everyone was expecting a big leap from Year 1 to Year 2 for Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in 2025, but it ended up being better than expected.
Mitchell had a stellar season that culminated in Pro Bowler and All-Pro selections for the first time in his young two-year NFL career. He was asked about following up on that kind of season, but the cornerback was not focused on that.
"I honestly feel like it's the past," Mitchell said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I'm not an All-Pro anymore. It's a new season. I don't view myself as an All-Pro anymore. I'm just trying to get better."
Quinyon Mitchell has moved on from the 2025 season and is focused on 2026
Last season, Mitchell had 45 tackles, 17 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery in 16 games. He also allowed a completion percentage of 44.3% and a passer rating of 64.3, both topping what he did in his rookie season in 2024.
Since joining the NFL two years ago, Mitchell has quickly been one of the top outside corners in the NFL, as he might not get the interceptions that others at his position get, but he is the exact definition of a shutdown corner. He is rarely beaten in coverage and has had some strong games, like his five pass deflections against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.
It's incredible that the Eagles were able to find Mitchell and fellow All-Pro Cooper DeJean in the same draft and now have their secondary intact for the next five to 10 years if they play their cards right. Mitchell is only going to get better as he enters the prime of his career.

The future has never looked so good for the Eagles on defense, as they have so much young talent to build the roster around. Mitchell feels like the most important piece of the puzzle, as the team can't afford to ever lose him.
