Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is blessed to have so many weapons to throw to in this offense heading into the 2026 season.
After the departure of wide receiver A.J. Brown, it left Hurts trying to find his number-one receiver. Many believe that role is going to DeVonta Smith, but what about the others? Which one of the new guys is going to step up?
This roster has six new wide receivers and tight ends, but if fans include the running backs, Hurts has 13 weapons to choose from. The answer to his top targets is not as clear as some believe.
Who are Jalen Hurts' top targets in Eagles passing game from bottom to top?
13. E.J. Jenkins, TE
Jenkins is simply not going to get as much attention in 2026, even if he is slotted into the TE3 role at the beginning of the season. He is more than likely going to get on the practice squad before the season ends at some point, but the Eagles are high on him so that things could change.
12. Johnny Mundt, TE
Mundt is more of a blocking tight end, so he's not going to be catching a lot of passes. Because he will be on the field more than Jenkins will, he wins by default.
11. Tank Bigsby, RB
Bigsby might be the backup running back, but is he going to be as involved in the passing game as the other backs? Not really. He is going to be more involved in blocking and getting carries when Saquon Barkley is tired, so don't expect him to be too involved in the passing game.
10. Will Shipley, RB
Shipley could come out more on passing situations than Eagles fans expect. This is where he typically thrives: on offense, not in his rushing. After the preseason, the Eagles could give him some more reps in passing situations.
9. Elijah Moore, WR
Moore and Hurts did develop quite the chemistry together, but he is sitting last on the depth chart, so how many targets will he actually get? This isn't any disrespect towards him as a receiver, but because the room is so deep, Moore may not get as much playing time in 2026.
8. Eli Stowers, TE
Stowers may not play much early in the season with Jenkins on the team, but he will eventually get there. By the end of the year, he will get targets in this passing game and slowly work his way up the depth chart.
7. Hollywood Brown, WR
The hope is that Brown will be the Eagles' deep threat in the passing game and create big plays. He runs into the same situation as Moore, though, and could see his targets reduced because of how many good receivers the Eagles have.
6. Darius Cooper, WR
Cooper only had nine receptions in his rookie season with the Eagles after making the team as an undrafted rookie last year. He should get more looks, as he has Hurts' full confidence, but don't expect that number to be too much higher. Look for him in the 20-reception range.
5. Saquon Barkley, RB
One thing the preseason and training camp showed was that the running backs will be involved in his offense. Watch for Barkley to put up his biggest receiving numbers as an Eagle this season.
4. Makai Lemon, WR
The Eagles will no doubt find ways to get Lemon involved in the offense. Because he is expected to get fewer touches early in 2026, that could affect his targets. He needs time to work more with Hurts after missing most of training camp due to his hamstring injury. Once he does, though, Lemon should be very good.
3. Dallas Goedert, TE
Goedert has always been Hurts' number three guy in this passing game. No matter who they bring in, Goedert will always be slotted into that role. He may not get 11 touchdowns again in 2026, but he will get his targets and receptions with ease.
2. Dontayvion Wicks, WR
Wicks showed in training camp that he can step in as the new number two receiver. Hurts and Wicks built very quick chemistry together, and Wicks proved that he's got a good catch radius for Hurts to throw it anywhere. Watch for Wicks to be one of the main guys and put up career numbers with the Eagles in Year 1.

1. DeVonta Smith, WR
There was never any question or doubt about who was number one. Smith had three 1,000-yard seasons in five years with the Eagles, and all three of those 1,000-yard seasons were with A.J. Brown as the top guy. This season, Smith has a chance to also put up career numbers and finally earn his long-awaited first Pro Bowl selection.
