Saquon Barkley to miss a ceremony in his honor (But, will do so for good reason)

Saquon Barkley has a very special young lady he needs to spend with whom he needs to spend some time.

We'll never forget those shots and glimpses of Saquon Barkley sitting atop the Rocky Steps at the Museum of Art. The long route taken during the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl victory parade may have reminded him of his own long journey, one that now includes championship glory and a shiny new ring that will arrive before long.

There he sat, taking it all in before the speeches, before teammates, coaches, and political figures joined him to celebrate the achievement. It was a chance to finally reflect on what had been accomplished.

Saquon was born in the Bronx. He attended Whitehall High School in Whitehall Township, PA. Many of you met him when he set the world on fire at Penn State with the Nittany Lions. The second overall pick in 2018's NFL Draft, he endured six seasons in Gotham with the New York Giants before landing where he should have been all along.

It doesn't get any better than Saquon's first season in Philly with the Birds. He became the ninth player in NFL history to eclipse 2,000 yards rushing during the regular season. He won an All-Pro nod and Offensive Player of the Year. He should have been the doggone MVP. Most importantly, he and his teammates won a Super Bowl.

Barkley's season has brought him acclaim, and its made some ask the following. What if he had been in Philly the entire time? But, here's another question. Did you hear about that father/daughter dance he is attending?

Saquon Barkley to miss 66th Maxwell Football Club Awards to attend a dance with his daughter

The Maxwell Football Club recently awarded the 66th Bert Bell Award to Saquon Barkley. He couldn't attend, but he had a good reason. He earns an excused absence. He's taking his beautiful daughter to a father-daughter dance.

Saquon's dance with his daughter was originally rescheduled for February but conflicted with the Eagles' Super Bowl appearance. Since it was now being held on the same night as the Maxwell Football Club's ceremony, he wanted to ensure he honored his commitment to his family.

Every year, the Bert Bell Award is presented by the Maxwell Football Club to honor the person voted as the NFL's of the Year. It is named in honor of Philadelphia native Bert Bell, a former Eagles head coach (1936-40), NFL commissioner, and founder of the Maxwell Club.

We congratulate Saquon on his latest honor. Now, go and cut a rug for all of us.
