Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman sure knows how to catch the fan base off guard with his trades, but his latest could help them in more than one way.
Prior to Monday Night Football, the Eagles executed a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the second time in 2025. Philly acquired running back Tank Bigsby in exchange for two Day 3 draft picks in 2026.
The move is most likely in response to Will Shipley's rib injury that was suffered in the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. It appears that the injury was more serious than previously thought, which opened the door to add another running back to the backfield.
Bigsby will join Saquon Barkley and A.J. Dillon with the idea that Dillon will serve as the new RB2. With Bigsby appearing to be taking less hits on offense, it could open the door for another opportunity for him.
The Eagles might have their new kickoff returner in Bigsby
Before the new kickoff rules, it was all about having a returner on kickoff who has blazing speed to outrun the coverage. Now it's about having someone with great vision for finding the openings right away. That's a trait most running backs have.
The Eagles have rolled out Shipley and Dillon on the field on kickoff for that specific reason. Jacksonville has experimented with this idea, and Bigsby has experience returning.
In his three-year career, Bigsby has returned 11 kickoffs for 314 yards, an average of 28.5 yards per return. Bigsby had one return for 20 yards in the Jaguars' Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers.

The Eagles will roll out Bigsby on the field against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, but don't expect it to be on offense often, or at all. It'll be more focused on special teams and returning kicks.
