The celebration of the Philadelphia Eagles' 2024 Super Bowl title is coming to an end, as the focus on defending the title come to form.

Philly went 14-3 last year after starting the season at 2-2 before their bye week. The postseason was a dominant display by the Eagles, with three of their four wins by double digits, including the 40-22 Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, there are targets on their backs going into the 2025 season as everyone wants to beat the best. There have been some changes to the Eagles' roster that will add some intrigue going into the new year at training camp.

Top Eagles training camp storylines in 2025

How Kevin Patullo handles his first time calling the offensive plays

The offense in Philadelphia is about as good as it will be with 10 of the 11 returning starters from 2024. They are led by 2024 AP Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, who rushed for an NFL record 2,504 yards in the regular season and postseason, as well as Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts.

All the attention is on new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who takes over for Kellen Moore, who departed to be the head coach for the New Orleans Saints. Patullo has been Nick Sirianni's right-hand man for years and has played a significant role in the team's offensive game plans. Eagles fans are hoping to avoid what happened with Brian Johnson in 2023, and Patullo can pick right up from where Moore was last year.

Sydney Brown vs. Andrew Mukuba vs. Tristin McCollum at safety

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is gone after being traded to the Houston Texans. Reed Blankenship is the lone experienced starter at safety as the Eagles look for his new partner.

Sydney Brown and rookie second-round pick Andrew Mukuba split time with the first team during offseason workouts, while Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio wasn't shy about naming McCollum as a candidate for the job. This three-way battle is the fiercest battle at training camp and will be fascinating to see who wins it.

The youth movement on defense

Speaking of the defense, all but two of the projected starters are at least age 25 or under, which is unprecedented for a unit. The stars of the new youth movement are Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Nakobe Dean. They have big shoes to fill with Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Milton Williams all gone.

There are still veteran leaders on the team, with Zack Baun and Reed Blankenship the new emotional captains of the defense. The biggest question with this defense is whether the young guys are ready for the challenge at hand in 2025?

Eagles' strategy to win the Super Bowl (again)

This is always one of the biggest storylines for any team that is following up a Super Bowl title. That's because there's always a big turnover with the franchise as other teams try to steal those people to build their own Super Bowl caliber team.

The defensive turnover is the biggest concern, given that the offense lost only right guard Mekhi Becton in the offseason. Even the coaching turnover was not bad with Moore leaving, but Fangio stuck around. Can Sirianni keep the strong winning culture in Philadelphia and get his team back to the Super Bowl in 2025?
