The 2026 coaching cycle has certainly had its ups and downs, with some craziness involved, but the Philadelphia Eagles are involved in the process in a different way as they focus on hiring a new offensive coordinator.
After removing Kevin Patullo as the offensive coordinator, the Eagles are now in search of a new man for the job and are reportedly already looking at Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll as early candidates. One new name has emerged in the conversation that might send the fan base into a tizzy.
New York Daily News Giants beat reporter Pat Leonard shared that the Eagles are entertaining the idea of LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. for the job. Weis just completed his fourth season as Ole Miss's offensive coordinator and followed new Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU for 2026.
Eagles have a new contender in the ring for OC (and it's not a bad choice)
This one is going to throw the whole Eagles fan base off guard, and it's a bit of an outside-the-box idea. The good thing about Weis is that he has been an offensive coordinator since 2018, following Kiffin everywhere to Florida Atlantic, South Florida, Ole Miss, and now LSU.
There might be one reason that Weis would make a lot of sense for the Eagles' offensive coordinator job: Jalen Hurts. Weis was an offensive assistant at Alabama at the same time Hurts was the quarterback there. That familiarity might actually work in favor of Hurts and the offense.
Weis is no stranger to football either, as his father, Charlie Weis Sr., was a former head coach at Notre Dame and Kansas. He also won four Super Bowls as an assistant coach with the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

Hiring Charlie Weis Jr. would not be a conventional hire, but one that the Eagles fan base shouldn't completely lose their minds on. It could actually work if given the chance, but fans will see whether he even gets the opportunity.
