As the Philadelphia Eagles head into their bye week after their Week 8 victory against the Giants, trade rumors and predictions are running rampant as the November 4 deadline comes up the horizon.
PFF's Bradley Locker believes that the Eagles should make a push for New Orleans Saints defensive end Chase Young, a perfect fit for Vic Fangio's defense.
"Few were skeptical of the Eagles’ defensive line going into their Super Bowl-defending campaign, but it’s yet to match last season’s disruptiveness. Edge rusher has been a particular problem, especially with Nolan Smith sidelined since Week 3. Philadelphia’s edge defenders rank 16th in overall PFF grade and only 19th in pressure rate in 2025, with Jalyx Hunt (52.9 PFF pass-rushing grade) yet to bloom and Za’Darius Smith retiring.
Young feels within range for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, who always swings for the fences."
Eagles could get a steal for Young while helping the edge rushers
The Saints should be in full fire-sale mode with their 1-7 record as they enter the Tyler Shough era. Young has graded extremely well this season after dealing with a calf injury to start the season. Young, through three games, has graded with a 91.2 pass-rushing grade while also earning a 71.7 run-defense grade per PFF. Through games, he's recorded two sacks and eight tackles.
Young's emergence could give Eagles fans some hope for their defensive line unit, that's been "solid" but has lacked a "spark" off the EDGE. With Nolan Smith injured and Jihaad Campbell playing out of position a bit, Young instantly upgrades a unit that has called upon the unretired Brandon Graham for help. With Nolan Smith injured and Za'Darius Smith retired, the team has leaned on Hunt and Josh Uche, both of whom have a sack each through the first eight games of the season.
Roseman has been highly active during his tenure as general manager, and especially this year. Young re-signed with the Saints this offseason for a three-year, $51 million deal, which will require some salary manipulation, per Spotrac. He's owed approximately $43 million over the last two years of his contract.

With the Eagles set to extend Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter over the next offseason, it's highly possible that, financially, it may not be possible for this deal to happen. Regardless, with the Saints 1-7, and Roseman extremely aggressive (maybe even desperate), it shouldn't surprise anyone if Young finds himself in Philly next week.
