As injuries continue to mount for the Philadelphia Eagles, the team's ongoing challenges in the 2026 season have given unsung players a chance to make an impact in the Week 8 tilt against the Washington Commanders.
Here are five players for Philadelphia poised to make their mark in Week 8:
Five unsung heroes that must step up for the Eagles in Week 8
Ty Robinson, DT
With the much-heralded - and highly compensated - Philadelphia defensive line providing so little pressure of late on opposing quarterbacks, Robinson deserves to get his number called with far more frequency by defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
Per Anthony Dibono of The Philly Special Show, Robinson leads the defensive line with a 16.7% pressure rate. With Jordan Davis (6.3%) and Jalen Carter (6.1%) falling well short of expectations, especially in the pass rush, it's time Robinson gets more burn.
Kenny Moore, S
While the veteran free agent addition didn't start against Dallas (two tackles), Moore will once again be called upon to play key snaps against Washington.
Between inconsistent play and injuries, the starting duo of Andrew Mukuba and Marcus Epps have floundered, creating a prime opportunity for Moore to make his mark.
Markel Bell, RT
The rookie third-rounder is showing signs of stepping up, and his crucial first-quarter block against Dallas helped vault Saquon Barkley to pay dirt. It hasn't been smooth sailing for the towering tackle since he was thrust into action after he and anchor Lane Johnson retired. Still, Bell can leave his fingerprints all over a much-needed win in Washington if he can hold down the fort at right tackle against the Commanders' pass rush.
Darius Cooper, WR
The undrafted second-year man and fan favorite at wideout hit the ground running earlier this season, including back-to-back contests with touchdowns. However, Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys was a quiet affair for the shifty wide receiver, who caught just one pass for 17 yards on three targets.
With injuries still haunting the wideout room, Cooper has a golden opportunity to put up numbers against a vulnerable Washington secondary in Week 8.
Elijah Mitchell, RB
It's been a whirlwind few weeks for the veteran Mitchell, who went from unemployed to the practice squad to active on game day for Philadelphia. Mitchell was called into action against Dallas once Saquon Barkley was forced out due to his back and hamstring woes, and the former '49er looked solid. Mitchell toted the rock three times for 11 yards and caught three passes for 23 yards in his debut in midnight green.
