The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line was once a strength, but there are some cracks up front for this unit. That group needs to take some steps forward for the Eagles' offense to improve, yet one of their best-performing players is right guard Tyler Steen.

Throughout his time with the Eagles, there have been some questions about whether he could develop into a solid starter, and he's cleared that bar thus far. The same can't be said for Cam Jurgers in 2026 and Landon Dickerson, who is on IR.

Eagles' OL has struggled, but Tyler Steen is playing well

Steen enters Week 4 without allowing a sack or a QB hit. Three pressures and two penalties have been docketed to Steen, but overall, he's been one of their better offensive linemen. According to PFF, Steen has a 69.5 overall grade (23rd among 72 graded guards), 68.3 run-blocking grade (22nd among 72 graded guards), and a 72.6 pass-blocking grade (16th among 72 graded guards).

For all things considered, Steen has given Philly stability at the right guard spot. He's in the final year of his rookie deal and is looking for a payday. With the pressure on him to perform so he can head to the negotiation table with clear-cut evidence, Steen has delivered.

The Eagles OL has allowed eight sacks this year, which is tied for the fourth most in the NFL. That number could be even higher if it weren't for Jalen Hurts getting out of trouble or getting rid of the ball. His mobility has been an asset for the Birds, yet the offensive line will need to stabilize.

That's certainly a point of emphasis for Philadelphia, and as things currently look, Steen is probably their best lineman behind Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. Given how the conversation around Steen was entering this year, this is a positive development.

The next couple of weeks for Steen will be focused on building on his solid outings and finding ways to improve. Considering that Drew Kendall is next to him at center instead of Jurgens, their connection and trust will only build.

The Eagles paid Jurgens and Dickerson, yet both players had injuries that played a role in their production taking a hit. That put them in the spotlight and, at the same time, showed how much better Steen has been out there.

With a tough matchup against the Rams up next, the Eagles will need Steen to play the same way he has all season long. If he's able to continue being a positive for this team, it'll give both fans and the team another example that this season isn't like the past for the Alabama product.
