With the Philadelphia Eagles draft class complete, everyone has begun breaking down rosters and delivering their opinions on the top units this year.

With NFL teams receiving a barrage of reinforcements, including the class of undrafted free agents, each team is optimistic about the 2026 season. Going into 2026, Bleacher Report writer Gary Davenport believes that the Eagles, after draft day, have the fifth-best unit coming into this fall.

Eagles ranked in the top 5 in defense

Since Vic Fangio's hire, Philadelphia has consistently ranked among the league's strongest defenses. This past season, after some Howie Roseman magic, the Eagles managed to increase their sack total from the previous season despite several losses, including Milton Williams, Bryce Huff, and Josh Sweat, while also being the eighth-best team against the pass and allowing the fifth-fewest points per game in 2025.

Going into 2026, the Eagles should be able to continue that success, despite losing Nakobe Dean and Jaelan Phillips, both wearing new uniforms, setting themselves up to be the premier unit in the NFC East, and possibly the NFC as a whole.

On draft day, the Eagles added Jonathan Greenard to supplement Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith on the EDGE, along with securing Jordan Davis for till 2029, along with Jalen Carter's fifth-year option being secured. Coupled with Moro Ojomo and the continued development of Ty Robinson, the Eagles' defensive line remains one of the best in football, supplemented by a high-level Linebacker corps.

On the backend, the Eagles brought in Riq Woolen to allow Cooper DeJean to fall into the Nickel position, along with Quinyon Mitchell, who is becoming one of the NFL's best corners. While the Eagles' weak point remains their safety position across from Andrew Mukuba (who is coming off an injury), the Eagles do have capable options in Marcus Epps, Michael Cater II, or even an overlooked Cole Wisniewski.

Overall, the Eagles have continued to reload rather than rebuild each and every year, it seems. Currently, the Eagles have six former Pro Bowlers on the defensive side of the ball going into this fall.
