Watching Quinyon Mitchell's ROY campaign reminds us of an Eagles Super Bowl hero

It's too early to say this, but we'll do so anyway. Quinyon Mitchell made us think about Malcolm Jenkins.

Somewhere, Malcolm Jenkins is smiling. He played six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He started 96 consecutive regular-season games and another six during the postseason. He walked walked away as a Super Bowl champion for a second time as he also won as a New Orleans Saints member in 2009.

What's more impressive is he never missed a snap minus the regular-season finale in 2017. Philly rested the starters in that one. We thought we'd always think of Malcolm when we saw the Number 27 Eagles jersey, and we still might.

A rookie is wearing that number proudly. Perhaps you've heard his name once or twice.

Quinyon Mitchell shares Malcom Jenkins' Number 27 jersey number, and the Eagles rookie has certainly done so in dignified fashion.

With ten regular-season games in the books and only even remaining, Quinyon Mitchell's star continues to burn brightly. He has been a joy to watch.

The 2024 NFL Draft's 22nd overall selection has started all ten games, tallying 31 tackles and eight pass breakups. Let's just say the feedback has been positive.

We spent some time hanging out on DraftKings this morning. With 11 Weeks of the NFL season in the books, they see the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year Award as a two-man race. Jared Verse's odds were -200. Mitchell came in at +200. Calen Bullock (+750), Laiatu Latu (+900), and Braden Fiske (+1200) rounded out the top five.

We're pulling for Quinyon. The Defensive ROY Trophy is an honor no Eagle has ever earned, not even Reggie White. Mitchell is truly deserving, and if he keeps improving as he has, he'll have an amazing case once the final votes are tallied.
