Not many Philadelphia Eagles fans feel hopeful about the 2026 season after watching the team fold in on itself and lose its fifth straight game in Week 7.
It was about as torturous as it gets for the Eagles, as they fell to the Dallas Cowboys 38-21 in a game that definitely sealed the fate of the 2026 campaign. Too many players folded so quickly and didn't put in the effort to win.
This makes for an interesting next two weeks for the Eagles before the November 10 trade deadline, as the team still has options on the table for whatever it wants to do with some of its players. One thing is clear, though: Howie Roseman doesn't need to wait anymore and has permission to blow this roster up.
Howie Roseman can just start making moves with Eagles' roster
The Eagles moved to 2-5 after losing their fifth straight game. It's pretty clear now that some players on this roster aren't getting it done. Whether it's a lack of will or skill, this team simply isn't good enough.
Offensively, they are so banged up and depleted that the Eagles can start moving on from some of the talent that is on that side of the ball. It's more about playing the younger players and figuring out who could be cheap, long-term starters versus the pretenders who are simply depth players.
Even on defense, that side of the ball is having its worst game of the Vic Fangio era, allowing 38 points and 416 yards. Plenty of players on that side of the ball should be considered trade bait.
The results aren't getting any better, and this team isn't improving much, so why would Roseman wait? This is the time to make the necessary calls and move on from players who won't be on the roster beyond 2026.
Who needs to be on the chopping block for Eagles to be traded at the deadline?
Roseman should be looking at every single player who is either on a one-year deal or entering the final year of is ofis their contract.
After allowing 117 yards and one touchdown in the Cowboys game, Woolen became an easy trade candidate who should be gone in the next two weeks. Many cornerback-needy teams, like the Chicago Bears, could use him and might play better with him.
Dallas Goedert, as good as he's been this season, probably needs to be on the list as well since he is on a one-year deal. The good thing about Goedert is that he can get good trade value and help a team out that needs another pass catcher. Philly can press forward with rookie Eli Stowers, give him valuable reps, promote Zach Ertz to the 53-man roster, and let him gun for the franchise receptions record to make something good out of this season.
Moro Ojomo is another interesting trade candidate. Ojomo has been a very good young player who likely won't be on the roster for long, since he is in the final year of his rookie contract and will be expensive to keep. A team will be willing to spend a third- or fourth-round pick on him.
On the offensive line, watch for two names: Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen. Dickerson, for the second straight start this season, allowed four pressures against the Cowboys, while Steen allowed two pressures, one hurry, and one sack. It may be worth testing the market on both guys and letting others like Willie Lampkin and Jake Majors play to see if they have a shot at becoming future starting guards.
Addressing Saquon Barkley as a trade option: unless it is a really good deal, don't trade him. Barkley is averaging 5.7 yards per carry, and yes, he's been banged up all year, but his gutsy performance against the Cowboys showed that he's the leader and talent this team needs. If the Eagles are offered a first- or second-round pick for him, they should consider trading him.

Everyone wishes things were different for this Eagles team, but Roseman has to accept that the 2026 season is over after seven games and start building for the future. Getting rid of some of these guys is just the right move, and they should load up on as many draft picks as possible.
