Never sleep on the underdogs. You've learned that time and time again while watching Philadelphia Eagles football. Heck, your first lesson in that probably came while watching all of those movies about a fictional boxer. You know the one we're talking about. He once sprinted up the steps of the east entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

No one will confuse Britain Covey with Sylvester Stallone, and honestly, that's why we love him. He's come a long way from being disallowed entry into the team parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field because no one knew him.

Here's your update.

Britain Covey is trending toward returning to the Eagles lineup.

Philly's special teams return ace appears to be close to returning to the Eagles lineup fairly soon. We're hoping for Sunday's game versus the L.A. Rams.

Philly opened a 21-day window for him on Wednesday before beginning practice. He was a full participant at both Wednesday and Thursday's sessions. Here are the week's roster reports ahead of Week 12's game.

Covey has missed each of Philly's past seven games. He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3 vs. the New Orleans Saints and has been on the team's injured reserve since September 24th. The Eagles have until December 11th to elevate him back to the 53-man roster after activating his three-week window.

If they elect against doing so, he'll return to the IR and remain there for the rest of the season. But, again, we doubt his return will take that long. It will be good to see him back in the lineup. We'll see if he's back by Sunday as the L.A. Rams are on the horizon. Friday's injury report ruled DeVonta Smith out. Covey was listed as questionable.

Here comes the curveball. After it was announced he'd undergo wrist surgery, Bryce Huff has been added to the injured reserve.

He's the third or fourth-best wide receiver on the offensive roster, and starting slot corner Cooper DeJean has handled punt returns in his absence.
