Zack Baun explains why Nick Sirianni is the perfect leader for the Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been on the receiving end of his fair share of criticism over the past year, and deservedly so in some situations. But, regardless of outside perception, the players inside of Philadelphia's locker room seem to really enjoy playing for Sirianni.
Zack Baun has has been impressed with Nick Sirianni's leadership
Eagles standout linebacker Zack Baun is in the midst of his first season playing for Sirianni, and he's quickly become a fan. During a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, Baun explained why Sirianni is the perfect leader for an Eagles team trying to get back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.
"Nick is such a powerful leader," Baun said. "He gets us fired up. He knows what to do. He's a player's coach first, and credit goes to him for bringing the right guys, and Howie [Roseman] bringing the right guys in here. And he's just doing a great job as a leader and leading this team."
Sirianni has become somewhat of a controversial character, with some applauding his aggressive, in-your-face approach, while others are quick to suggest that he's in over his head. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. But, regardless of personal feelings, Sirianni's success can't be disputed.
He has an impressive record of 42-19 as the head coach in Philadelphia, and he's lead the Eagles to the playoffs in all three of his seasons so far, including the Super Bowl run in the 2022 playoffs. Philly also appears to be well on the way to a fourth consecutive playoff appearance under Sirianni.
And while Baun has enjoyed working with Sirianni, the feeling is mutual, as Philadelphia's head coach recently raved about the addition of Baun.
"I think it's a home run for the organization," Sirianni said of Baun. "Howie and the coaching staff and Zack Baun himself. And so, you get really excited about those...That's a great feeling when it's just a team win and a player like Zack Baun succeeding. But make no mistake about it, all of the credit and most of the credit goes to Zack Baun and the player that he is, the toughness that he has. I am so glad that he is on this football team."
Sirianni's excitement is understandable. The Eagles needed help at the linebacker position, and Baun has been everything they could have hoped for, and more. He's currently on a one-year deal, but keeping him in Midnight (or Kelly) Green should be a priority for Philadelphia's front office after the season.
