Dead Celebrities and Their NFL Counterparts
It’s been a tough year for celebs thus far in 2009 and it’s only half-way over. I’d like to believe things couldn’t get much worse than what we’ve seen in June, but strange has a way of following the rich and famous. At least this is the last day of the month. Maybe, just maybe, we can escape the day without another big name dropping. I’m bored, so I’m going to mix things up here at ITI. It’s time to compare the recent spate of celebs who have kicked the bucket to some of our favorite NFL personalities. Which players [...]
Eagles Sign LeSean McCoy
According to NFL.com’s Steve Wyche, the Eagles have inked Shady McCoy to a four-year contract. No official word from the Birds, but McCoy’s agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted the deal, so it must be true. In case you weren’t aware, Twitter is how everyone is getting their news these days. With McCoy presumably in the fold, only first-rounder Jeremy Maclin remains unsigned. Both Shady and JMac are currently attending the NFL Rookie Symposium learning how not to end up like Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress and Donte Stallworth. Let’s hope they are paying close attention. Don’t miss your daily fix of Eagles [...]
Still One Of The Best
Pete Prisco over at CBS.com published his list of the NFL’s Top 50 ballers. I consider lists like these an exercise in futility, but I don’t have much else to write on today, so I figured I’d offer my two cents on Prisco’s choices. Donovan McNabb is the lone Eagles representative. No Westbrook. No Samuel. No Baskett. I can’t believe Hank didn’t make the cut. Anyway, I could care less about who didn’t earn a spot. I want to talk about Donny Mac’s #49 ranking. If you assume I’m going to bash Prisco for not ranking him higher, you’d be [...]
Brian Mitchell Fired for Criticizing Redskins?
PFT, via USA Today, is reporting former Eagles return specialist Brian Mitchell claims he was canned from his D.C. radio gig for inflammatory comments toward the Redskins. The radio company, Red Zebra Radio (weird name), claims Mitchell’s removal was economic based. What else would they say? He was making $150 K, which ain’t chump change, so maybe it was for budgetary reasons. However, Red Pony Zebra is owned by one Daniel Snyder. Ahem. What’s the world coming to when you can’t slam your favorite team? Thankfully, the Eagles would never resort… oh, wait… I forgot. There was this little nugget [...]
Saturday Links
There’s always lots going on throughout the FanSided.com Sports Network. Today isn’t any different. Time to take a spin around the blogs to see what’s the haps. Pacman Jonesin’ has come up with 10 seriously screwed-up Michael Jackson moments. How he narrowed the list to just ten is amazing. King James Gospel got a mention on ESPN’s Around the Horn on Thursday. Host Tony Reali botched the name of the site, but how nice is it to get a plug on the World Wide Leader? Pretty. Damn. Nice. Pucks and Pitchforks is our brand new New Jersey Devils blog. Being [...]
Donovan McNabb Blogs Goodbye to Michael Jackson
From Yardbarker: “Like most of the rest of the world I am devastated by the news of Michael Jackson’s death. Ironically, I am in Los Angeles for a few days between shooting a commercial and attending a teammate’s wedding this weekend. Those who have followed my career know that I am a huge fan of the King of Pop. After many of my touchdowns, I have moonwalked or mimicked some of his moves – before you get ready to criticize those moves on a post, know that even I understand I couldn’t hold a candle to Michael when it comes [...]
Fan Poll Friday: Most Hated NFC East Player
I’ll keep this simple. Which of these guys turns your stomach most? Who’s the one player you love to see our beloved Eagles harass and destroy?
I Thought Chris Johnson Played Running Back
What you are about read (I hope) is not directly Eagles-related, but it’s telling evidence of what can happen when rookies blow up during their first NFL season. Titans running back Chris Johnson has been all over the headlines this week. First, he announced his brand spanking new nickname. As PFT reported, Chris has ditched the “Smash and Dash” moniker he shared with portly touchdown vulture LenDale White. He now wants to be referred to as “Every Coach’s Dream.” Catchy, isn’t? Here’s a beauty of a quote from Chrissy on why he took it upon himself to change his handle: [...]
A Giant Goes Under the Knife
While doing my daily scan across the Interwebs, I stumbled upon this little item on PFW. Giants newly acquired linebacker Michael Boley just underwent hip surgery and will be out 8-10 weeks. What’s the deal with all these surgeries anyway? Westbrook, that soon-to-be quarterback for the Vikings, now Boley. I realize guys can’t schedule when they get hurt, but it seems like a lot of players are getting cut open in the last couple months. Boley is expected to be recovered before the season opener, but he will miss valuable training camp reps. Not good for someone attempting to learn [...]
Eagles Cheerleaders in Pictures
It’s summer. It’s hump day. It’s hot outside. Time to brighten things up here at ITI. I’m taking a day off from analysis and pontification. I was bored last night, so I decided to do a Google image search for lovely Eagles cheerleaders. After the jump (continue), you can peruse my findings. Complete with clever captions! Enjoy. (Don’t fret, they are SFW.)
Fun With Rookies
I like it when the local beat writers/TV guys interview players and ask them about something other than X’s and O’s. A lot of these larger than life athletes have loads of personality, and some are, dare I say, funny. It’s hard to tell when all they talk about is football. Derrick Gunn over at CSN Philly conducted an amusing sit down with some of the 2009 rookies. Check it out here. It’s the “June 22nd video.” I would have embedded it here at ITI, but the embed code from CSN is sketchy. Here are a few highlights: Shady wants [...]
Five Reasons the Eagles Will Reach the Super Bowl
Some fans claimed yesterday’s post was too negative. Uh, that was the point. Crowning the 2009 Eagles champs in June is not only premature, it’s foolish. See the 2008 Cowboys. Or the 2007 Patriots. Or any number of pre-season faves who failed to meet expectations. But it’s June. Not much else is going on, so I’ve decided to be foolish. I promise there won’t be any tears in your morning cereal today. I’m here to turn those frowns upside down. Enough jibber-jabber. If all, or some, of the following five scenarios come to pass, a return trip to the Big [...]
