Fortunately, the drama surrounding Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson situation is now old news and he is no longer our problem. Unfortunately, his absence from the depth chart leaves the Eagles with a glaring need for a dynamic, electrifying playmaker at the wide receiver position.

Allow me to introduce you to LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham Jr. may only 5’11” and 200 lb., but make no mistake- he is a big time player with pure athletic ability. Whether he is busting open the field for a deep catch and run, or simply serving as a difference maker on punt/kick returns, the kid is a big time talent and I truly believe that he could come right in and make his presence felt on this team. His ability to be a deep threat coupled with his experience in special teams versatility makes him a perfect fit for Chip Kelly’s system.

Many people may not like the move of taking a wide receiver this early in a draft class deep with receivers, but for what Odell Beckham Jr. can potentially bring to the table- he is worth the plunge at 22 overall.

Also- for anyone wondering, I prefer Odell’s NFL readiness over another guy Eagles’ fans seem to be falling in love with- Brandin Cooks.

Beckham Jr. recorded 59 receptions, 1152 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 2013.
