Bacon, Eggs and Eagles – Is It Tebow Time Or Ego Time?

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning everyone! I feel bad for any fans that may have been sleeping when the news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles will sign quarterback Tim Tebow. But for those of us that were up, the takes were flying on Twitter, Facebook and any blog you could possibly think of. For someone that’s just going to compete for the third quarterback spot on the Eagles, Tebow sure does bring out the hottest takes across the internet. None hotter than this gem by everyone’s favorite writer, Mike Freeman…or not.

Eagles Signing Tim Tebow Is All About Chip Kelly’s Giant EgoMike Freeman of BleacherReport.com

"This story is also about ego. Chip Kelly’s ego. Make no mistake about that. This is a total ego move by a megalomaniac, egotistical coach. Is Chip Kelly talented? Yes. Does Chip Kelly think he’s the smartest guy in the room? Hell yes."

How Much Will Tim Tebow Impact the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015?Bryn Swartz of BleacherReport.com

"After hosting him for a workout last month, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed quarterback Tim Tebow to a one-year deal, as first reported by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.Tebow, 27, has not played in the NFL since the 2012 season. He signed with Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots during training camp in 2013 but was cut before the start of the season. Most thought that was the end of Tebow’s short-lived NFL career, but the Eagles have now signed him for what will be his fourth NFL team in six seasons."

Fan-Demonium: Tommy’s Favorite ProspectsTommy Lawlor of PhiladelphiaEagles.com

"I had never heard of Ali Marpet prior to the Senior Bowl. I had never even heard of his school, Hobart College. He did well the first day and that caught my eye a little bit. He was better the second day and that really got my attention. He was even better on day three. I spoke with him after practice and came away even more impressed. Players are taught what to say by their agents and handlers. They are full of trite clichés. Marpet came across as genuine. He was confident in himself, but also honest about his limitations. I could see Chip Kelly loving this guy.Marpet then went to the Combine in February and had a terrific showing. He was one of the most athletic linemen there. He was fast, strong and agile. What more could you want? I would be thrilled if the Eagles took him in the second round. I know that might sound early for a player from a Division III school, but I think Marpet would be a perfect fit for the Eagles and could challenge for the right guard spot right away."

Philadelphia Eagles offensive line needs more continuity in 2015Brandon Lee Gowton of BleedingGreenNation.com

"In 2013, the Eagles actually managed to have all five starters in place through the entire season (plus a playoff game). As a result, Philadelphia’s offense greatly benefited. LeSean McCoy led the league in rushing and Nick Foles posted an impressive 27 touchdown to two interception ratio. The 2014 season didn’t nearly follow the same script. The offensive line issues started in the offseason when it was announced Lane Johnson would serve a four-game suspension. Then his replacement, veteran Allen Barbre, suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1. Evan Mathis would also leave the season opener with an injury that landed him on the injured reserve, designated to return list. Center Jason Kelce suffered a groin injury in Week 3 that sidelined him. A less-than-100% Matt Tobin wasn’t able to return to the field until Week 4 after suffering a nasty high ankle injury in the preseason finale. Then it was right guard Todd Herremans who tore his biceps just one week before Mathis returned."

Was DeMarco Murray signing right idea?Phil Sheridan of ESPN.com

"By the time the shock from the LeSean McCoy trade wore off, most Philadelphia Eagles fans already knew the team was close to signing DeMarco Murray. There wasn’t a lot of time for concern about the team’s running back situation to creep in.It would have been much more trying if fans had to wait until the NFL draft to find out who McCoy‘s replacement would be. Dallas Cowboys fans can relate. Dallas lost Murray, the NFL’s leading rusher, about five weeks ago. The Cowboys signed Darren McFadden, but the expectation remains that they will draft one of the running backs available at the end of this month."

I think it’s only fitting to end this morning’s post with one video to rule them all, behold “All He Does Is Win”:
