As of August 25th, two weeks separate us from the start of the regular season. Let’s get a quick update on four injured starters for the Philadelphia Eagles.

We all woke up on August 25th of 2019 knowing two things that we could say with certainty. One, there are only two weeks remaining before the Philadelphia Eagles take the field in a game that counts. Second, there are four starters who haven’t been practicing fully that we hope to show up to play in that one, but we can say with any certainty that they will.

Nigel Bradham, Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson, and Brandon Brooks are all assured of a roster spot if they’re able to play, but that’s the issue for all of us. We don’t know when they will be.

Look at it this way. Two of the top corners are nursing some nagging injuries, Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills. Then, there’s Cre’Von LeBlanc. He had an unfortunate setback about a month ago, and there’s no guarantee that he’ll be back before November.

Rodney McLeod returned in the third preseason game, but you’d have to imagine that we’ll need to spot him a few weeks before he’s back to his old self again.

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s just the secondary. Amidst all of the unknowns lies four more. We’re talking four starters with Pro Bowl potential. We’ve been told Brooks, Cox, Bradham, and Johnson will all be back for week one, but that’s never been said with any confidence.

Where are they? Here’s one sentence on four of the most recognizable Eagles on the current roster.

Brandon Brooks

It seems like it’s been eight months since we saw Brooks running and making all kinds of cuts on Twitter, but per Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, Brooks may begin to do some limited team drills this week.

Lane Johnson

‘It’s good, and I’ll be ready for Week 1’ is an exact quote from Mr. Johnson himself, so we’ll just have to wait and see if he’s correct when the Washington Redskins come to town for the opener.

Nigel Bradham

Nigel Bradham hasn’t been on the field of play since the divisional round of last season’s NFL Playoffs, but Coach Pederson says ‘(Cox and Bradham) are sprinkling in the walkthrough this week and then hopefully we get them all next week’, whatever that means.

Fletcher Cox

Pederson says he’s confident that everyone, including Cox, will be ready for week one, but he didn’t really look confident when he said it.

Next. Zach Ertz emotional over Andrew Luck’s retirement. dark

Here’s what we all can take from this. At this point, it’s becoming really obvious why we hear the ‘day to day’ comment from Coach. He doesn’t know when these guys will be ready. Neither do we, but getting Cox, Bradham, Johnson, and Brooks back on the field is a top priority. Let’s just hope Philly takes their time with this one. We don’t need them rushed back out there either. You don’t want to risk further injury.
