During the Philadelphia Eagles romp of the totally overmatched Washington Commanders, Jalen Hurts did everything in his power to silence his doubters. He did so with great aplomb.
Then, there's Saquon Barkley. He added to what has already been arguably the greatest season in NFL history for a running back.
Philly's most recent NFC Championship Game was played on the national stage. That added to the legacies of both. Two unsung heroes played their way into the hearts of Eagles fans everywhere.
They weren't alone in doing so in the Eagles offense however.
As kickoff approached, no one knew if Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens would play. He didn't start, but he suited up and was active. He stayed ready just in case his team needed him.
In his stead was Landon Dickerson, arguably the most dominant guard in the game. He'd anchor the line as the center, something he hasn't done since college. Tyler Steen manned Dickerson's usual role, the left guard position. Dickerson played a masterful game in place of Jurgens, but he wasn't healthy either.
The NFC Championship Game took a huge toll on Dickerson's gargantuan body. He played through the pain until he couldn't. He was a warrior and battled until he couldn't.
Then, Jurgens stepped back in.
Jurgens had battled back tightness all week which is hard to do if you don't play football. He ignored the limitations of his body and looked no worse for wear, even though we know that wasn't the case.
Jurgens never showed any signs of any injury. He simply gave it all he had until the final whistle. He played through the obvious pain like Dickerson did before him.
In Philadelphia, we're usually drawn to the big and ugly. That's why the hogmollies in the trenches get so much love. Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens have become fan favorites already, and they further cemented their growing legacies in the minds and hearts of Philadelphia Eagles fans everywhere.
Their performances were the gutsiest we've seen in recent memory. It was the epitome of what we would expect from Jeff Stoutland University. Now, comes the next task, getting our guys healthy and ready to play in Super Bowl LIX.
