Round Two:

52. Philadelphia Eagles
Ameer Abdullah
Running Back, Nebraska

I can practically see the tweets of outrage already. Before we go and freak out, let’s understand that there’s never anything wrong with adding a tremendous playmaker in the second round. Besides, the last second round running back Philadelphia took (LeSean McCoy, 2009) turned out pretty alright. As much as we love Darren Sproles, Abdullah is being selected to be the heir to McCoy’s throne when the time comes to pass the torch.

Round Three:

84. Philadelphia Eagles
Jaquiski Tartt
Safety, Samford

I do think the Eagles will add a safety in free agency to compete, but I’m not so sure the Eagles will spend the money on a player you want to drop $300 on an authentic jersey for. Tartt, an intriguing FCS talent, turned heads at the Senior Bowl and has ideal size for a safety (6’1, 218). He’ll fit in nicely alongside Malcolm Jenkins eventuallyeven if he takes a year or two to develop.

Round Four:

110. Philadelphia Eagles
Cedric Ogbuehi
Offensive Tackle, Texas A&M

This pick is more of an ideal scenario. Much like offensive guard Brandon Thomas in 2014, Ogbuehi was well on his way to being a first round pick prior to suffering injury. If the Eagles are in a position to snag him before the San Francisco 49ers pull another one of their “redshirt” selections, they absolutely should here. Ogbuehi could begin at offensive guard before eventually being transitioned to right tackle once Lane Johnson assumes the left side.

116. Philadelphia Eagles
Eric Rowe
Cornerback, Utah

Rowe is the third player that the Philadelphia Eagles have selected that participated in the 2015 Senior Bowl (Abdullah and Tartt are the others), and he has great size (6’1, 204) and is a former safety. His versatility is something that makes him extremely valuable, and could be used in any number of positions to create a mismatch.

Round Five:

148. Philadelphia Eagles
Kenny Bell
Wide Receiver, Nebraska

Kenny Bell may very well be the best blocking wideout in the country. While I think other WRs like Vince Mayle (Washington) and Breshad Perriman (Central Florida) could be in play, Chip Kelly loves WRs who willingly take on the least flashy part of being a wide receiver. His team-first attitude to offense would fit in extremely well with Kelly’s culture.

Round Six:

180. Philadelphia Eagles
Brandon Bridge
Quarterback, South Alabama

There’s nothing I can say about Brandon Bridge that hasn’t already been said by Inside the Iggles staff writer Anthony DiBona. Check out his complete breakdown of Bridge’s game if you haven’t already.

Round Seven:

212. Philadelphia Eagles
Ray Drew
Defensive End, Georgia

Chip Kelly has selected three defensive lineman (Joe Kruger, David King, Beau Allen) in his four seventh round picks over the past two years. There’s not a lot of room for another defensive lineman if Cedric Thornton is re-signed, but Drew in the seventh round is a nice, low-risk pick in any event. He might come down with an awful case of a broken fingernail in training camp, requiring a season on IR.
