Measurables

Saxton has decent size for the tight end position at 6-4, 243 lbs., but it will be his speed that sets him apart from others at the next level. He reportedly runs a 4.55 in the forty yard dash which would be much faster than the average time a tight end runs in the drill at 4.78, according to Mockdraftable.

But even though Saxton has an edge with his speed, he is actually undersized compared to the averages of tight ends in almost every other category. With just 9″ hands and 32″ arms, he’s behind the averages for tight ends which are 9.89″ and 33.19″. At the next level, Saxton will have to use his speed to his advantage and hopefully teams can put him in the proper positions to get him out in space on the field and showcase his ability.

NFL.com’s Charles Davis offered his thoughts about multiple players at the East-West Shrine Game that impressed him and sure enough, Wes Saxton was one of them. Here’s what he had to say:

"Saxton fits the profile of what NFL teams are looking for in a tight end these days. He looks like a wide receiver playing tight end, and he runs like one, too. Saxton is a threat downfield, but he’s not going to help much as a blocker."
