Philadelphia Eagles and Tim Tebow: Dream Team Two?
By Todd Duvall
Philadelphia Eagles Chip Kelly is full of surprises. He’s been this way since he started his college head coaching career with the Oregon Ducks in 2009. He led them to four consecutive BCS Bowl Games during his tenure including a trip to the BCS National Championship Game against the Auburn Tigers in 2010; his second year as head coach.
I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback-Tim Tebow
He entered the NFL on January 16, 2013 and inherited a 4 – 12 Philadelphia Eagles Team. In his first season he led the Birds to a NFC East Title with essentially the same squad as the previously season. And not to mention he lost starting Eagles quarterback Michael Vick in Week 5. He used three quarterbacks that season.
Suffice it to say he knows what he’s doing. He’s been anything but conventional. So now that he has full control Philadelphia Eagles personnel he has really shown his aversion for conventional wisdom. He has stretched the faith of every Eagles fan far and wide. Their devotion to Kelly is shaky after the trade of Eagles quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for quarterback Sam Bradford.
But just when they thought it was safe to go back into trust-mode he pulls yet another move that just boggles the mind again. According to NFL Analyst Adam Schefter former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow worked out with the Eagles.
What the….? Is this some kind of Dream Team Two in the making? Some days it just doesn’t pay to read twitter. Has Kelly lost his mind? Could he plan to bring the Wildcat back? If memory serves me correctly that didn’t work out so well. It lasted maybe one season. I am not a quarterback guru or I would be working in the NFL. But even I can see Tebow’s delivery is way too slow for the NFL.
Sure he won a few games, even a post season game or two but seriously, Tim Tebow an Eagle? It never occurred to me he would actually return to any squad in the NFL.
To add fuel to this fire, the Eagles have notified NFL Teams in need of a quarterback they will entertain offers for quarterback Matt Barkley.
So this does thicken the plot. Kelly likes having three quarterbacks so if he gets rid of Barkley he makes room for Tebow.
Not sure how Tebow fits into the Eagles offensive scheme or if he does. This is either a case of Chip Kelly getting a God Complex and he believes he can fix any quarterback out there. Or, the more logical answer is Kelly really does know what he is doing and he is much smarter than all of us.
So now all we can do is wait to see what he’s up to. For me, I think he has a plan, he’s going to work his plan and I think the majority of fans will be glad he’s at the helm. It may not be clear now but we all have to remember….
Chip Kelly hasn’t had a losing record in six years. He’s smarter than the rest of us.
