Bacon, Eggs and Eagles – Kelce Confident In O-Line Talent
Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is confident and believes in the team’s offensive line despite the group being labeled a weakness or concern by many around the league. Although the Eagles failed to directly address the offensive line during free agency or the 2015 NFL Draft, Kelce thinks the team will be just fine up-front on offense. When asked what helped the Eagles’ secondary the most this offseason, safety Malcolm Jenkins talked about the addition of coach Cory Undlin as the team’s new Defensive Backs Coach. Jenkins believes that it will help with the player’s technique which should help big time during the upcoming season. All that and more in this morning’s serving of Bacon, Eggs and Eagles!
Kelce Confident In O-Line Talent – Bo Wulf of PhiladelphiaEagles.com
"Following the release of Todd Herremans and the spate of injuries that hit the Eagles’ offensive line in 2014, some were surprised that the team opted not to add to the position either in veteran free agency or through the NFL Draft. But Jason Kelce, who should know the group as well as anyone, believes the Eagles have plenty of talent up front to get the job done come the regular season.“I think that we have a talented group of guards, I really do,” Kelce said Thursday. “I know that Allen Barbrecan play, I’ve seen him play for a couple years now. He’s a very good player for us. Matt Tobin is a guy who I think was a little bit blue last year in getting his first starts, and his first really solid action time, but he’s a guy that has all the tools that you want to be successful at guard in this league. You’ve got Andrew Gardner, who played a lot and actually did a really solid job for us.”Complicating matters, of course, is the absence of Pro Bowl left guard Evan Mathis."
Malcolm Jenkins: Biggest move in secondary was coaching change – Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com
"Maybe the biggest move the Eagles made in the secondary wasn’t signing Byron Maxwell or Walter Thurmond.Maybe the biggest move the Eagles made in the secondary wasn’t cutting ties with Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher and Nate Allen.Maybe the biggest move the Eagles made in the secondary wasn’t drafting Eric Rowe, JaCorey Shepherd and Randall Evans.Malcolm Jenkins suggested this week it was replacing John Lovett with Cory Undlin."
Thurmond Has Template For Safety Switch – Bo Wulf of PhiladelphiaEagles.com
"Walter Thurmond didn’t sign with the Eagles expecting to play safety. In fact, the possibility was never mentioned during the team’s courting of Thurmond during free agency. But when the opportunity was presented to Thurmond, the erstwhile cornerback surveyed the scene and decided it was time for a career change.“Once they had the draft and we drafted three corners, they gave me the option actually if I wanted to play corner or if I wanted to play safety,” Maxwell said Thursday. “I chose to play safety and I’m competing.“I’m not (completely) new to the position, I’ve dabbled a little bit in practice during scout teams in Seattle and New York and stuff like that, so I’m pretty familiar, but it’s a lot different from playing corner my whole career playing football. So there are going to be a lot of opportunities, especially in this defense, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”"
Chip Kelly has no need for those who waste time – Bob Ford of Philly.com
"Chip Kelly doesn’t like wasting time. Whatever else we know about the Eagles coach as the preparations for his third NFL season begin, we know that much.He practices fast. He plays fast. He talks fast. If he wants to acquire a player or get rid of one, that doesn’t take long, either. Kelly doesn’t care for those who waste their own time, which is precisely what he thinks the league’s competition committee did when it made a halfway alteration to the conversion-after-touchdown rule."
Tim Tebow with Eagles: ‘You can’t play it forever, so I’m going to enjoy it’ – Nate Davis of USAToday.com
"PHILADELPHIA — Tim Tebow‘s newest helmet may be a dark shade of jade, but he certainly isn’t.The NFL’s most scrutinized backup quarterback seemed as sincere, hopeful and upbeat as ever Thursday after making his first comments to the media since signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles last month. And after nearly two years out of the league, Tebow is more than grateful just to have an opportunity."
Have you ever thought about going golfing in a football helmet and shoulder pads? No? Well, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins apparently has and posted a video of him doing so on his Instagram account, ha!
"Not your average golf tournament lol ⛳️"
