Bacon, Eggs and Eagles – Jordan Matthews Ready To Lead
After an impressive rookie season, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews is ready and eager to lead the team’s young group of wide receivers in 2015. Although Matthews is young himself, he’s incredibly mature and has the right attitude to lead at the position. Matthews’ work ethic already seems to have rubbed off on fellow second-year wide receiver Josh Huff as well as undrafted rookies Rasheed Bailey and Devante Davis. All three of them have joined Matthews for post-practice sessions with the JUGS machine. All that and more in this morning’s serving of Bacon, Eggs and Eagles!
After strong rookie season, Jordan Matthews is ready to lead receivers – Sam Donnellon of Philly.com
"JORDAN MATTHEWS was ticked. He had run the sideline pass route cleanly, but the ball arrived a little late and a little high, and by the time he jumped and extended all of his 6-3 frame to haul it in, a defensive back was upon him and there was no room to run.And thus, no first down. So, as Matthews ran from the field, the sound of his frustration carried out across the practice fields of the NovaCare Complex.Carried, literally, into the streets."
Eagles Loving What They See From Allen Barbre – Lou Musto of Scout.com
"It was an alarming—though somewhat expected—maneuver when the Philadelphia Eagles cut Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis. Putting their eggs in the basket of an eight-year veteran by the name of Allen Barbre who had never been a starter or even particularly good offensive lineman was good reason for concern. But so far, at least according to his coaches and teammates, Barbre has filled in wonderfully. The team has high expectations for him and don’t believe they’ll miss Mathis one bit.“I’ve seen Allen play in games and I think be very, very productive in games,” head coach Chip Kelly told CSNPhilly.com on Wednesday. “We’re very confident in him.”"
As Eagles Break, What Do We Know? – Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com
"There is a fine line now, with six weeks to go before the Eagles are due back at the NovaCare Complex for Training Camp, between rest and ramping up preparation for 90 players on a roster with a world of potential ahead.A mandatory mini-camp completed — ended 20 minutes early on a touchdown pass from quarterback Tim Tebow to rookie wide receiver Rasheed Bailey, a leaping catch that made Bailey feel very good and prompted head coach Chip Kelly to give the players the early dismissal — the Eagles are now off until August 1, which will mark the opening of Training Camp."
For three Eagles, training never stops – Les Bowen of Philly.com
"ZACH ERTZ and Ryan Mathews will join Darren Sproles out in San Diego for some pre-training camp workouts, joining a group headed by Sproles and his former teammate, Saints quarterback Drew Brees.“The pace we have here? We train at the same pace,” Sproles said yesterday, as the Eagles concluded a 3-day minicamp and adjourned until camp kicks off Aug. 2."
Versatility puts G.J. Kinne in position to succeed with Eagles – Paul Domowitch of Philly.com
"G.J. KINNE wants to play in the NFL. He’s not concerned about the job description. He doesn’t care if he’s a quarterback, wide receiver, running back or nose tackle. He just wants to play.Kinne has spent the better part of the last two seasons as a quarterback on the Eagles’ practice squad. But even with an impressive 138.2 preseason passer rating the last two summers, he realized it would be next to impossible for him to make the Eagles’ 53-man roster this summer strictly as a quarterback.Which is why he decided to go to Chip Kelly at the end of last season and ask the Eagles coach if he could move to wide receiver, a position he hasn’t played since his freshman year in high school, and then only for a week."
There’s nothing like outside linebacker Connor Barwin hitting a sled to “Call Me Maybe” during minicamp, quite hilarious.
