Howie Roseman and his crew did a yeoman’s job of addressing this position in free agency, to the point where depth should not be an issue. The problem is that it still may be lacking the lockdown corner everyone hoped the grossly overpaid Byron Maxwell would be, but never was.
Free agent signees Ron Brooks and Leodis McKelvin are solid, if not spectacular, veteran pickups, joining incumbent Nolan Carroll, who fits that same mold.
Highly-touted rookie Eric Rowe struggled at times but showed glimpses of promise as his first season progressed. That said, his most natural fit may ultimately be at safety.
The rest of the current crop consists of previously unproven picks Jaylen Watkins, Randall Evans and JaCorey Shepard.
