First Round (No. 2 overall): Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State

More from Inside the Iggles

This is not even slightly a surprise.

The Eagles traded up to the No. 2 pick for a reason and that is to select the player who they believe could be their franchise quarterback. Sam Bradford is not a fan of the move, but no one cares about what Bradford thinks at this point. Bradford likely won’t be an Eagle for much longer anyway.

Wentz is a big, athletic quarterback and has the tools necessary to become an above average signal-caller at the next level. His experience in a pro-style offense is encouraging and could give him a leg up when learning the ropes of the NFL.

This crop of quarterbacks isn’t a very good one, but Wentz definitely has the potential to be ‘the answer’ for the Eagles moving forward.
