The cornerback position is still the Philadelphia Eagles’ biggest need going into the draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles may have signed veteran cornerback Patrick Robinson last week, but that alone won’t be enough to fix the team’s secondary overnight.

As the 2017 NFL Draft quickly approaches, the Eagles are betting on Joe Douglas and their scouting department to fix the team’s woes at cornerback. Luckily, the Eagles chose a great year to need a corner. This is a historically deep cornerback class and the Eagles will have plenty of solid options in the first several rounds of the draft.

ESPN reporters recently selected the biggest position of need for all 32 NFL teams. Unsurprisingly, ESPN’s Eagles reporter Tim McManus pointed to the cornerback position as the area most in need of improvement for Philadelphia in 2017.

"The Eagles need two new starters after releasing Leodis McKelvin and losing Nolan Carroll II to the Cowboys in free agency. While they recently added veteran Patrick Robinson, they remain very thin at the position. Look for the Eagles to target corner in the upcoming draft."

Players like Marlon Humphrey, Tre’Davious White and Gareon Conley could all be on the board the board when the Eagles make their No. 14 overall pick. If the Eagles are really lucky, Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore could still be around during their selection. But that is highly unlikely.

Fortunately, this draft is deep enough at corner that the Eagles won’t necessarily need to pressure themselves into taking one in the first round. CBS Sports projects Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie and Teez Tabor to all be available in the second round.

Sidney Jones, who suffered a torn Achilles during his pro day, could also still be on the board in the second round. Prior to his injury, Jones was regarded by many as possibly the best corner in the draft. Though he would miss most of the 2017 season, it may behoove the Eagles to take him with their second-round selection.
