Just in case you missed it: Eagles cut fan favorite Rasheed Bailey
By Regina Ham
It wasn’t a major headline, but the Eagles by released a fan favorite clear Wednesday afternoon.
With off-season activities slowing down and rookie camps underway, post-NFL Draft news tends to slow down. The Philadelphia Eagles kept the ball rolling with their latest roster move.
Bailey, a Philadelphia native, hadn’t received a chance to compete for a roster spot in the 2017 season. He signed a future/reserve deal for the team in January. However, it seems that things weren’t panning out for him or working out to the team’s advantage.

A former wide receiver at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Rasheed Bailey went undrafted after 2015 NFL Draft. His college career was one of note. He finished his senior season with the Aggies after totaling 165 total catches for 3,168 yards and 29 touchdowns. He set a school record for career-receiving touchdowns.
Bailey found a home in Philadelphia and signed with the team. Former head coach Chip Kelly let him workout for a roster position. Yet Bailey failed to make the 53-man roster that season.
He caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown during the 2015 season in Philadelphia, yet the team chose to let him go. Bailey ended up heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars. There, he was signed to the practice squad. Eventually, he’d land on the San Diego Chargers‘ practice squad. 2016 was a tough year.

His time in San Diego would be short lived. Bailey caught two passes for 37 yards with the squad during the 2016 preseason. He was waived by the organization due to an injury. There is no sign of what to expect about his immediate future, but other teams in need of depth could pick him up.
Bailey never played in a regular season game during his time with the Jaguars or Chargers.
