Jerod Evans has been waived by the Philadelphia Eagles.

One less quarterback will be competing for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ backup quarterback job behind Carson Wentz.

The Eagles announced Sunday that undrafted free agent Jerod Evans, who formerly played at Virginia Tech, had been waived. He had been nursing a foot injury suffered during the team’s first week of minicamp.

Evans’ chances of making the team out of training camp were slim. Carson Wentz and Nick Foles are basically locks to make the opening day roster and Matt McGloin could also be in the fold if the Eagles choose to carry three quarterbacks in 2017.

This isn’t to discount Evans’ potential at the next level, however. In his only season at Virginia Tech, Evans started 14 games for the Hokies and threw for 3,552 yards, 29 touchdowns and just eight interceptions with a 63.5 completion percentage. He also rushed for 846 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

To take Evans’ place on the roster, the Eagles signed offensive tackle Victor Salako, who played his college ball at Oklahoma State. Salako is absolutely massive, measuring in at 6’6″ and 335 pounds.

Here is a scouting report on Salako, courtesy of NFL.com.

"STRENGTHS: Possesses a massive frame with good length to get into defenders. Plays with decent strength in his hands. Able to land a punch and latch on early in the rep. Frame provides him natural power to generate some early movement. Finds his way back inside against counter moves in pass protection. Utilized controlled approach to his target in run game.WEAKNESSES: Straight-legged blocker with poor knee bend and overall leg stiffness. Plays out of an unorthodox pre-snap stance and pops straight up. Less a kick-slide that sluggish shuffle in pass sets. Allows defenders to live under his pads and gives initial ground against bull-rushers. Very narrow base as a run blocker and struggles to stay connected to his blocks. Balance is poor."
