Joe Banner is the former president of the Philadelphia Eagles, and he recently had a chance to discuss his former team.

Joe Banner has an NFL resume that most would kill for. He currently serves as a front office consultant for the Atlanta Falcons. Before that, he spent two years as the CEO of the Cleveland Browns, but fans of the Philadelphia Eagles know him for another reason entirely. From 1995 to 2012, he served as president of their favorite football team.

On May 23rd, he’ll receive another honor. For their 20th Anniversary Induction Ceremony, the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame will make Banner one of their seven newest inductees.

Banner appears on one of Philadelphia sports radio’s most popular shows:

Banner has a unique knowledge of three NFL franchises that the majority of us will never know. Last Thursday (May 18th), he spent some time discussing the Eagles on 94 WIP-FM‘s Carlin and Reese Show, and fans of this great team can walk away smiling after hearing what he had to say.

One, we’re lucky that he left Cleveland or else the Browns might have actually taken quarterback Carson Wentz. Secondly, he believes the Eagles can win the NFC East.

Banner’s theory on the NFC East:

Banner took a few moments to discuss the other teams in the division. “I’m not excited about what the (New York) Giants have done…but people thinking picking up (Brandon) Marshall and stuff like that was a big deal.. he’s not the best guy in the locker room, and I think his best days are behind him. Their offensive line is still a big problem.”

On the Washington Redskins he had a different theory, stating “Washington will be interesting to see. They’ve had all the changes in the front office. They lost a couple of players, but they kept a bunch of players and they continue to seem to add some personnel decisions that were pretty good in spite of the problems with the G.M. (general manager).”

Banner added his theory on the Dallas Cowboys. “I think Dallas is still gonna be good, but I’m not sure that they’re not going to take a little bit of a step backwards.”

With all that being said, what did the former Eagles president have to say about Philly’s chances? Banner believes, and we quote, “I would not even hesitate to think the Eagles have a good chance, if not better than anybody else in that division to win it.”

Now that’s some pretty good news for Eagles fans from a very reliable source.
