Rookie cornerback Rasul Douglas is already standing out.

It isn’t easy for a rookie cornerback to join the NFL and make an immediate impact. Rasul Douglas, however, is making his presence known in the early going of OTAs.

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Troy Vincent, the NFL’s current executive vice president of football operations, obviously knows a thing or two about football. In a recent appearance on the Eagle Eye In The Sky Podcast with Fran Duffy, Vincent gave a pretty positive review of what he’s seen from Douglas in practice.

"Moved well. Big, long kid. Reminded me a little bit of Bobby Taylor. Probably a little bit better quickness. He was smooth."

Being compared to Bobby Taylor, a guy who registered 314 tackles and 19 interceptions in nine season with the Eagles, isn’t something to simply brush off. And Vincent, who spent eight seasons playing with Taylor, probably knows what he’s talking about.

The Eagles selected Douglas in the third round of this year’s draft. In his final season at West Virginia, he intercepted eight passes in 13 games.

The former Mountaineer has the potential to play a huge role for the Eagles in 2017. Thus far in OTAs, he’s received a healthy dosage of reps on the outside along with veteran corner Patrick Robinson.

During practice on Tuesday, Douglas broke up numerous passes thrown his way and always seemed to be around the ball. He was also schooled by Alshon Jeffery, but you’ll have that as a first-year pro.

Second-year corner Jalen Mills has spent most of OTAs playing in the slot. If that continues, Douglas could very well be one of the Eagles’ starting cornerbacks in 2017.
