Doug Pederson: Eagles not interested in signing Jeremy Maclin
By Ryan Quigley
Jeremy Maclin may not be in the Eagles’ plans after all.
Earlier this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Philadelphia Eagles were showing interest in free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. As it turns out, though, the team may not be pursuing the 29-year-old receiver after all.
When asked in a press conference Thursday if the Eagles were interested in signing Maclin, Doug Pederson responded simply, “At this time, no.”
This is probably going to be a major letdown for a lot of Eagles fans. Maclin spent six years with the team and became a fan favorite during his time in Philadelphia. In the five seasons he played (he missed the 2013 season with a torn ACL), he caught 343 balls for 4,771 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Maclin, things have gone downhill over the last year. He struggled with injuries in 2016 and failed meet expectations in his second year with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also lost one of his closest childhood friends in the middle of the season, which certainly had an impact on his performance.
While it would be cool to see Maclin in an Eagles uniform again, it’s not hard to see why the team isn’t crazy about bringing him back. He is nearly 30 years old and has taken a beating over the course of his eight-year career. The Eagles have already invested heavily in revamping their receiving corps this offseason and it’s hard to tell exactly where Maclin would fit in.
Maclin visited the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, but left without a deal. He is also visiting with the Baltimore Ravens, who are in desperate need of help at wideout.
