Jason Peters wants to retire with the Eagles.
A lot of Philadelphia Eagles fans were concerned about offensive tackle Jason Peters being absent from voluntary OTAs. As it turns out, though, there was no need to worry.
Peters was present for the Eagles’ mandatory minicamp Tuesday and addressed the situation to the media. According to Peters, he wanted to give his body a rest.

Peters made it known that he wants to end his career with the Eagles. He told the media that he intends to retire as an Eagle and does not plan on going anywhere else. He also said that he intends to rework his contract with Philadelphia to ensure he remains in midnight green (quote via Tim McManus).
"I don’t want to be year-to-year doubting, are they going to release me? Are they going to do this? Taking pay cuts and all that. I just want to make sure that I got the reassurance that I’m going to retire here, don’t have to worry about it, show up and show out."
In 2014, the Eagles signed Peters to a five-year, $51.3 million contract. At 35 years old, he remains one of the most important players on Philadelphia’s roster. He may have led the league in false start penalties and allowed four sacks, eight hits and 28 hurries last season (per Pro Football Focus), but Peters is still one of the top offensive tackles in the NFL.
Peters has two years remaining on his contract. Over the next two seasons, he has a cap hit of over $11 million, per Spotrac. The Eagles will need to do some serious negotiating to keep him in Philadelphia at an affordable rate.
