4. The Eagles defense and special teams

Yes, it isn’t very sexy to admit that one of the best fantasy options is a team’s defense and special teams. Don’t run away yet though. In 2016, Philly’s defense and special teams unit finished as sixth-best in fantasy football. This could improve with Sproles continuing to return punts and Smallwood and Agholor becoming weapons. Agholor was an elite returner in college and he’s gotten more reps as a kick returner alongside Smallwood. Smallwood showed his ability as a returner with an 86-yard touchdown against the Washington Redskins.

With the Eagles drafting Derek Barnett, expect their pass rush and sack totals to increase. The addition of Timmy Jernigan will also contribute to the team’s sack total as they add another pass rusher. If the Eagles can improve at corner, this unit could break into the top five in this category in terms of fantasy production.
