Nigel Bradham should consider himself fortunate.

Here’s some good news in the Nigel Bradham case. Court documents show the Philadelphia Eagles linebacker has agreed to enter a deferred prosecution deal and probably won’t serve any jail time as long as he complies with the conditions of the program. This coming from a story released by ESPN staff writer Tim McManus.

All of this results from Bradham’s arrest following allegations that he struck an employee of the Hilton Bentley Miami on South Beach and broke his nose. The alleged victim was, apparently, setting up an umbrella for Bradham and some of his friends. Bradham was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm, a second-degree felony. The date of the trial has been moved several times. It was, most recently, scheduled to be heard some time this week, but this deal now moves the trial out of court, at least for now.

Again, Bradham must comply with the conditions of the program and do so explicitly.

The 2016 season:

More from Inside the Iggles

As you know, none of that kept him off of the field of play a season ago. After signing with the Eagles on March 9th of 2016, he went on to start all 16 games. When the Eagles’ season reached its’ conclusion, he had registered 102 tackles and two sacks (an amazing feat seeing as how defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz rarely blitzes). He had also tallied an interception, five pass deflections and two forced fumbles.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the extent of Bradham’s legal woes. In 2013, charges were dropped after he was given an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana in Tonawanda, New York. Then there’s a misdemeanor gun charge he faces that results from a separate incident.

In that instance, he, for some reason, decided to bring a loaded handgun into Miami International Airport on October 2nd of 2016. He’s expected to appear before a judge for a hearing on July 24th (right when training camp opens for the Eagles).

We’ll be monitoring all of this closely. Stay tuned.
