The Philadelphia Eagles are planning on wearing all black uniforms on Sunday.

The moment everybody has been waiting for! Finally, the Philadelphia Eagles will debut the all-black uniforms for the first time in 2017. As they head into a tough matchup with the Denver Broncos at home, the Eagles are calling for a Sunday blackout. Many fans were disappointed when the Eagles kept the black jerseys in the closet two Monday night’s ago. But now they made the wait worth it.

I know, the all-black uniform craze sounds a bit ridiculous. But for some reason, the Eagles seem to always pull out a big win in the all-black uniform combination. The black uniforms have been around since the early 2000’s, but they were always slightly different. The original black jerseys were always combined with green pants. It wasn’t until the 2014 season when the Eagles debuted the black on black jersey and pants.

The Beginning of the Blackout…

The Eagles started the whole “Blackout” game back in 2014. They played against NFC East rivals, the New York Giants at home on Sunday Night Football. In a game that was speculated to be close, the Eagles completely dominated the Giants. They shut them out 27-0 on primetime television. From that day on, Eagles fans were all about the blackout uniforms.

Since 2014, the Eagles have decided to wear the all-black uniform combinations twice a season. They went 1-1 in 2014 and 2015 during the blackout. In 2016, the Eagles went 2-0 in all black. First dominating the Minnesota Vikings, then second beating the Giants once again.

Sunday’s Agenda…

The Eagles are facing a tough Broncos team that is absolutely desperate and hungry for a win, especially on the road. They are currently on a three-game losing streak and they have yet to win a game on the road. Ironically enough, the Eagles are actually undefeated at Lincoln Financial Field this season.

With the Eagles bye week beginning on Monday, it would be ideal for them to head into their week off at 8-1. Although nothing is guaranteed, it is also very do-able. Sunday’s game will be a defensive battle and it could definitely be a one-possession victory for whoever wins. Considering the Eagles will be in all black, the energy at the Linc will be through the roof. Some may think it’s just a uniform, others see it as a game-changer. Be ready for the blackout!
