The Philadelphia Eagles made sure they paid attention to the special teams unit during the bye week.

With Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott‘s success during his rookie campaign, questions began about whether or not “The Birds” are pondering moving on from five-year veteran Caleb Sturgis who currently has taken up residency on the team’s injured reserve list. Watching Elliott miss three extra points in two weeks apparently caught the eye of the coaches, they didn’t look for kickers to work out. They looked in another direction.

Philadelphia worked out three long-snappers this week. Now, questions will begin, much like they have with Sturgis, about whether or not the Eagles are looking to move on from the man who currently fills that role, Rick Lovato. Then again, they could just be challenging him, but it’s hard to imagine an Eagles team that’s always looking to get better won’t add a better option if one is available.

Here’s what we know about the guys that stopped by the Novacare Complex.

Andrew East, Jeff Overbaugh and Jimmy Landes all worked out. East is a product of Vanderbilt who’s seen time on four NFL franchises, including the practice squads of both the Los Angeles Rams and Oakland Raiders. His experience, however, doesn’t include any in-game action.

Overbaugh went undrafted, and was, eventually picked up by the Chicago Bears. They let him go not too long afterwards. Just like East, he has no in-game experience in the NFL to speak on.

Landes was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round with the 210th-overall selection. On August 29th, a shoulder injury forced him to the team’s injured reserve. The Lions waived him this past Summer.

You guessed it. Just like Overbaugh and East, Landes has no in-game experience.

Yes, it’s a bye week, but there are truly no days off in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys are just around the corner.
