Talk about a dream come true, Eagles running back Corey Clement predicted he would be an Eagle some day.

It has been quite the season for Philadelphia Eagles running back, Corey Clement. The kid who was once a longshot to make the team has now become a household name. He may not be the teams desired three-down workhorse back, but in a strong running back committee, Clement makes a difference.

The former Wisconsin Badger went through three days of the 2017 NFL Draft without getting a single call. Once the weekend wrapped up, Clement was invited to sign with the Eagles so he could try out during the offseason. In a tough preseason battle, Clement’s chances of making the team were looking better and better as time went on. Although the Eagles were very deep at running back, Clement made a great impression on the fan base and the coaching staff.

Obviously, Clement ended up making the team. During the first couple of weeks, he was no more than a special teams player. But after veteran running back Darren Sproles went down with a season-ending injury, Clement became what the city would call a red zone specialist on offense. You may think that Clement’s success happened overnight, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. About five years ago, the Glassboro, New Jersey native dreamed that he would be a Philadelphia Eagle. Today, he lives that same dream.

“One Day… Some Day”

Living out his dream:

Clement took this photo back in 2012 and posted it on Twitter. Normally the “tweeters” of the NFL world go back to find posts that didn’t age well and the hottest of takes, but this one was a pretty good find. There is nothing cooler than seeing a young athlete living out their dreams. Especially if it is their hometown’s team.

Fast forward to November of 2017 and Clement is on the 9-1 Eagles. The rookie has proven to be a very solid contributor to the backfield this season. In fact, over the last two games, Clement has scored four touchdowns to add to his six total scores this season. That is pretty impressive considering he is third on the team’s depth chart.

Next: What really sparked an Eagles second-half turnaround?

As the season progresses on, Clement will continue to be a regular face on the Eagles offense. The young rookie has been a major asset this season on both, offense and special teams. He will most likely be on the Eagles for at least the next three years so it is best to get familiar with the New Jersey native right now. After all, he will be the future of the Eagles backfield.
