Several Philadelphia Eagles play ‘Santa Claus’ as Christmas approaches
It’s hard to remember a time where there were this many likable guys on the Philadelphia Eagles roster.
There’s Carson Wentz‘s AO1 Foundation. There’s Chris Long‘s decision to donate the remainder of his game checks to launch the Pledge 10 for Tomorrow Campaign. All over the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster, you can find great players who are also great men.
Take safety Malcolm Jenkins for example. He’s already been selected by his teammates as their selection for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Now, during the time of the year where our great nation most often celebrates a spirit of giving, Jenkins has taken it upon himself to make a difference again.
The Eagles do all they can to be ‘Santa Claus’ for some people that need one.

Philly’s 22nd District saw 145 people shot and 30 people murdered last year. For many, it’s an area most would stay away from. For Jenkins, Jalen Mills, Rodney McLeod, Sidney Jones, Patrick Robinson, Jaylen Watkins and Corey Graham, it provides an opportunity to show love to an area that so desperately needs it.
So Jenkins and his Eagles teammates walked up to the doorstep of the 22nd District bearing gifts and food. This was just another opportunity for the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation to provide another Holiday Dinner Basket Surprise. Every year, Jenkins collaborates with police officers in Philadelphia to provide meal baskets for 140 Philadelphia families.
Here’s a quote.
"Between myself and my teammates, being able to go around and surprise these families in person I think means a lot, especially around the holidays when people are stressed and trying to provide food, trying to provide toys. I know I have been blessed to never have to worry about a holiday meal, never have to worry about exchanging gifts or anything like that. So this is an opportunity for us to really give back in a meaningful way around the holidays"
It’s attitudes like this one that’s starting to make Philadelphia feel like a destination for great players and free agents. The Eagles are an organization that guys want to play for. The vibe is one that guys want to be around. Just ask Alshon Jeffery, Tim Jernigan or Nick Foles.
We couldn’t end this one without another quote from one of the Eagles team captains.

Check this one out.
"It’s humbling. You take your own environment, and where I go lay my head every day, for granted. It’s something that you get used to, but you go here and visit a kid, 6 years old, gets shot. That’s tough. So it’s an opportunity for us to do a small part in trying to bring a little bit of relief, put a smile on a family’s face around the holidays."
We, at Inside the Iggles have said it several times. We’ll say it again. This version of the Eagles is almost impossible to dislike.
