Sidney Jones, CB

Could this be the week that Sidney Jones debuts in the NFL? We’re not totally sure as of yet, but the probability of it happening seems to get better and better. Pederson and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz refuse to shoot down the possibility of Jones getting some playing time this week. Although they won’t officially list him as active, they still have yet to rule him out either.

If Jones plays this week, he will definitely be the most interesting prospect on the field. When he was drafted by the Eagles in the second-round of the 2017 NFL Draft, everybody knew they were getting a true first-round talent. They just had to be patient and wait for him to fully heal from his ruptured Achilles.

Now that Jones has a few weeks of practice under his belt, it may be time for him to take the field on gameday. Schwartz mentioned that mentally Jones is ready, they are just trying to find out if he is physically up to the task. Considering that they are questioning his conditioning, we should expect to see very limited playing time if he does, in fact, suit up. Limited snaps or not, it will still be very exciting to see the final piece to the puzzle of the Eagles young secondary.
