North Dakota is still rooting for the Wentz-less Eagles
The loss of Carson Wentz does not mean the state of North Dakota has given up on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Imagine living in a state without a single NFL team in any nearby cities. Who do you root for? Whose jersey do you buy? Fortunately, that would never be a problem in Philadelphia. But for Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz, that was an issue among the population of his hometown in Bismarck, North Dakota.
During his tenure at North Dakota State University, Carson Wentz has become the face of the state. All of his local success made him a celebrity not only in Bismarck but in Fargo, North Dakota as well. Despite playing in a small school that was pretty much unknown to many before 2016, Wentz was able to make himself the second-overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Since his debut with the Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz has been a superstar. Dating back to the very first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the city of Philadelphia was beginning for his debut. While everybody expected him to take the year off to observe, he actually ended up taking the team over.
North Dakota loves the Eagles…
Wentz made it easy for North Dakota natives to pick an NFL team last season. Throughout eight weeks of the regular season, you could spot many groups of North Dakota State fans wearing their number eleven jersey waving an NDSU Bison flag at Lincoln Financial Field. Obviously, without Wentz, these guys wouldn’t be Eagles fans. But with Wentz, they are die-hard, just like the entire city.
Are they still rooting for the Eagles despite Wentz being out for the season? Well, Mike Seminary, the Mayor of North Dakota told WIP’s morning show on Thursday that the state of North Dakota is still rooting hard for the Birds.

Unlike the rest of America, only Eagles’ fans believe they can win without Wentz. But Philadelphia knows that the team will plan to win for Wentz this Saturday. With the national media downplaying the number one seed, it is good to see that other fans have not bailed on the team despite losing their MVP.
