The Eagles have already lost their quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. Now, their offensive coordinator, Frank Reich, may be next.

By now, you’ve all heard about Josh McDaniels accepting the Indianapolis Colts‘ head coaching job and then deciding, at the last moment, to change his mind. That’s created controversy and a ton of discussion from writers and analysts. You’ve probably even heard the same from guys who are hanging around the water cooler at work. Regardless of what you think about McDaniels or his decision, the Colts still need a head coach. That’s where the Philadelphia Eagles and their offensive coordinator, Frank Reich come in.

He’s now one of the top candidates for the still-vacant position, and the Colts are showing quite a bit of interest. They’re truly taking a serious look at him.

Here’s a tweet from Tom Pelissero.

Don’t be surprised if the Colts say they want Reich.

There’s some familiarity on both sides. For Reich, Indy is where his coaching life began. He started as an offensive coaching staff assistant in 2008 before becoming their quarterbacks coach in 2009. That was after Jim Caldwell took over for Tony Dungy. He would serve in that role for two seasons.

He’s already familiar with Jim Irsay. Indianapolis has one of the superior facilities in the entire NFL, Lucas Oil Stadium. Then, there’s one of the most attractive parts of the job. Reich would get to tutor one of the great young quarterbacks in all of professional football, Andrew Luck.

If Luck is over what’s been a long string of recent injuries, this could be a very attractive landing spot for Reich. Is there an interest on both sides? We’ll soon see. We’ll all definitely be watching this one closely.
