Philadelphia Eagles DE Chris Long to receive another honor
On Friday, March 9th, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long will receive another award for his humanitarianism.
If great football players were judged on character alone, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long would be a ten-time NFL Pro Bowl selection and a sure first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. It’s guys like Long that make cheering for the Eagles an easy task. He’s definitely one of the bright spots in the NFL.
As an infant, Long appeared in an anti-underage drinking public service announcement with his father, Howie Long, and his mother during the 1980s. In May of 2015, he launched the Chris Long foundation, which helps raise money for the Waterboys Initiative. They’re a program dedicated to building wells for communities in East Africa.
Now, following his decision to donate all 16 of his checks in 2017 to charity, Long will be honored during Friday’s Maxwell Football Awards.
Take a look:
It’s good to see good guys get some recognition.

The Maxwell Football Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious football clubs in all of the United States. It’s been in existence since 1935, and it’s the namesake of Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell. Founded by a former owner of the Eagles and Maxwell’s friend, Bert Bell, the awards are held in the Spring following each football season.
The ceremony will be held at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Long took to social media to express his gratitude for being one of the honorees. Following his decision to donate his entire salary, he was mentioned by the former commander-in-chief, Barack Obama as well.
Long’s decision wasn’t based on a desire to be seen or noticed. It was done, simply, so that he might be a benefit to someone else. It’s nice to see that these types of individuals still exist.
We suspect he’ll forgive us for shining a little light on his accomplishments.
