NFL Free Agency: LeGarrette Blount to visit Lions on Friday, per report
Soon-to-be former Eagles running back LeGarrette Blount is scheduled to visit ‘The Motor City’ on Friday for a sit-down with the Detroit Lions. The NFL Free Agency period is fully underway.
On March 15th, former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is scheduled to visit the Novacare Complex for a physical. Once he passes, it’ll be official. Ngata will join the Philadelphia Eagles and be a part of one of the most feared defensive lines in all of the NFL. Turnabout is fair play in the NFL though, and the Lions appear interested in raiding the Eagles’ Super Bowl winning roster to stock their cupboard. Enter LeGarrette Blount.
Blount is one of four running backs the Lions scheduled for a visit. Over the course of one week’s time they were to meet with DeMarco Murray and Jonathan Stewart (whom they’ve already seen), Frank Gore, and Blount. The news was first reported by ESPN‘s NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Has Blount’s time in Philly come to an end?

Prior to signing with the Eagles on May 17th of last year, Blount spent two months on the NFL’s list of free agents. The Eagles signed him to a one-year deal. Blount struggled, at times, to find playing time (he didn’t get one carry in week two versus the Kansas City Chiefs). He stayed the course, however, remained a great teammate, and as weeks went on, he became the focal point of the Eagles rushing attack.
Blount finished the regular season with 173 rushing attempts and eight receptions. He gained 816 total yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground and one through the air.
It was in the playoffs where he made his mark. He scored touchdowns in the NFC Divisional Round, NFC Championship Game and in the Super Bowl. That’s when we knew he’d be etched into the minds of Eagles fans forever. As fast as it began, it ended, and now, with the emergence of Corey Clement and the addition of Jay Ajayi, an aging Blount is probably expendable.
Is anyone surprised though? This is how things go in the NFL. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
