Philadelphia Eagles DE Michael Bennett indicted: 3 serious questions
Here are three questions involving the incident that are sure to become the topic of several conversations.
1. Were the Seattle Seahawks aware of this prior to trading Bennett to Philly?
Yes, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has a reputation for being a tad sneaky. He just so happened to leave USC prior to all of those sanctions. Then, most recently, he withheld information from the NFL about a certain Seahawks star’s injury, allowing him to play an entire season when he should have been shut down.

In this case, however, Tim McManus, a staff writer for ESPN, states a source told ‘The Worldwide Leader in Sports’ the Seahawks weren’t aware of the situation involving Bennett until Friday. You can believe that if you choose to (or not).
The Eagles state they also weren’t aware of the alleged incident before making the trade.
2. Will the Eagles, now, move on from the star defensive end?
The Eagles, again, have made no indication of what their thought process is with Bennett at this time, but this situation might mean he could miss significant time with ‘The Birds’. In addition to the time he may spend behind bars, there’s also the NFL’s conduct policy to consider.
Philly has a tremendous decision to make. He’s immensely talented, but he’s also too expensive to offer a king’s ransom when you don’t even have any guarantees that he’ll be available.

3. Will further punishment from the NFL follow?
Regardless of what the ruling is in Texas, the NFL will, no doubt, perform their own investigation. They always do regardless of what the legal findings are. They always issue some sort of discipline under their personal conduct policy. A suspension is probably coming. That, alone, will strengthen the argument, especially from fans, that Philly needs to part ways with Bennett. Some are already taking that stance.
