Eagles QB Carson Wentz ahead of schedule in recovery process
Philadelphia Eagles fans who have spent a lot of their time worrying about quarterback Carson Wentz’s status for 2018 can rest easy. He’s apparently ahead of schedule in his recovery process.
Let’s be honest. No one really thought that the Philadelphia Eagles had any plans of letting Nick Foles walk. That is, unless of course, they got a king’s ransom in return. Following starting quarterback Carson Wentz‘s ACL and LCL tear, Foles stepped in, got hot as the postseason progressed and led Philly to their first Lombardi Trophy. As Wentz, continued to rehab, reports surfaced that he may not be ready for Week 1 of the 2018 season.
Fortunately they have the most recent Super Bowl MVP as their backup. Yes, it appears that they were shopping him, but how serious were they about an actual trade. They wanted Foles in the fold, and had no intention of parting ways with him unless they got a ton for him.
So far, no NFL team has met the Eagles’ high asking price, which is nothing short of a first round draft selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Went’s recovery may be going better than anticipated.

As the Eagles marched through the 2018 NFL Playoffs, we saw Wentz transition from crutches to a cane. By the time Super Bowl LII had come around, despite a noticeable limp, he was walking without the aid of either. Smiles crossed the faces of Eagles fans everywhere as he posted a video of himself throwing at the team’s indoor practice facility.
Everyone’s curious about QB1.
With the NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, it was going to be hard for any member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ brass to attend the NFL meetings and do so anonymously. Members of the media had a ton of questions for the head coach of the defending Super Bowl champs, Doug Pederson, as well as their executive vice president of football operations, Howie Roseman. Among those were questions about the status of the team’s franchise signal caller.
Pederson was available for comment on that subject and the assistance Foles has given him along the way:
"(Wentz is) doing really well. He’s ahead of schedule… (Foles is) totally fine being that mentor, sort of in that backup role, helping Carson along the way. That’s who Nick is. That’s who he is, and when called upon, he’s going to perform.. He understands this is Carson’s team, and he’s going to support him every way he can."
Don’t look now, but it appears Pederson’s not certain those reports of a December return for QB1 are accurate. Roseman backed his head coach up when he spoke to the media on Monday, joking that he always agrees with his head coach, who hinted just two days earlier that he expects Wentz will be under center for Week 1 of the 2018 regular season.
That’s good news for any Eagles fan.
