Carson Wentz has no intentions of playing in the preseason
In case you had hope for it, Carson Wentz says he most-likely won’t play in the preseason.
For the first time since Super Bowl Media Week, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz met with the media on Tuesday. The third-year veteran is preparing for the 2018 NFL Season in a much different way in comparison to his first two offseasons. This time around, Wentz is rehabbing his infamous ACL injury that he suffered back in December.
Although Wentz is far from one-hundred percent, he does confirm that his rehabilitation process has been making some significant progress. As of right now, Wentz has started the running portion of his rehab, which is good news as the NFL offseason activities begin.
For Wentz to be one-hundred percent by training camp may be asking for a lot, though. Initially, his injury was expected to take up to nine months to fully heal, meaning his targeted return would come in September. Right around the NFL’s opening week. So for anybody who was expecting any surprises at an early arrival, do not get your hopes up.
No Preseason for Wentz?
One thing is for sure, Wentz will not be prepared for the preseason, and that is okay. When Wentz met with the media on Tuesday, he made it very clear that Week One is his desired return and that nothing about his set date has changed as of now. He also made it known that he will not rush back to the field if he isn’t one-hundred percent. That means preseason is out of the question.

According to Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, Wentz stated that he doesn’t think he has to play in the preseason to be ready for the opener. With a little under two full years of experience, the veteran believes that he is more than capable of returning with little-to-no offseason practice. Although he may be rusty upon his return, it is good to see that Wentz remains confident in his game. So far, everything seems to be going well for No. 11 this offseason.
