Philadelphia Eagles RB Corey Clement is now a commencement speaker
Philadelphia Eagles running back Corey Clement receives an unexpected honor.
‘The Philly Special’ was just that, special. Still, as great as it was the Philadelphia Eagles‘ gallant attempt on fourth down to close the first half of Super Bowl LII was, it wouldn’t have happened if their undrafted rookie running back, Corey Clement, hadn’t taken a pass from Nick Foles and turned upfield, chewing up half the football field and setting up the Eagles with a first-and-goal.
He also took the handoff on the Philly special and tossed it to third-string tight end Trey Burton, who threw the touchdown pass to Foles. Then, he caught a touchdown pass from Foles in the second half. When Super Bowl LII ended, Clement had carried the ball three times for eight yards, and he caught four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
His place on the Eagles roster was cemented as was his place in the hearts of Eagles fans. Recently, in a report by the Press of Atlantic City, we learned he’s receiving another honor as well. He’s been named as the Rowan University’s commencement speaker for their 93rd graduation ceremony. That happens next month.
Kudos are in order for Clement.
Rowan University’s 2018 graduation ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 4PM EST. The location will be Richard Wackar Stadium.
Soon after, Clement will have to shift gears and focus on helping the Eagles defend their crown. For the first time in team history, they’ll enter the NFL‘s regular season as the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Let’s take a look back and ahead.
In the 2017 regular season as a rookie, Clement carried the ball 74 times for 321 yards and four touchdowns while sharing the workload with fellow backfield mates LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi.
He also helped the Eagles passing attack, hauling in ten receptions for 123 yards and two more touchdowns.
The NFL Playoffs didn’t appear to be too big of a stage for Clement either. In the Eagles’ three games, Clement added 33 rushing yards on six attempts and 139 yards on ten receptions. Don’t get fooled by the numbers if you’re a stat junkie though.
What isn’t shown on Clement’s playoff stat sheet is the timeliness of plays he made. In the NFC Championship Game, for instance, he spun out of a tackle and picked up a key third down. That play set up Foles’ bomb to Eagles receiver Alshon Jeffery a few plays later.

Yes, Clement’s had some great NFL moments already, and more are sure to come. They’ll have to wait for a few months though. For now, he gets his chance to set several young men and women off into the world so they can create some great moments of their own.
Everyone’s certain Clement will do an outstanding job.
