With some newfound spending money, the Philadelphia Eagles may dip in the free agency pool once more.

You thought the NFL‘s free agency frenzy was over, didn’t you? Well, business has picked up again at the Novacare Complex. This time, it was the release of long-time Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks. In the process, ‘The Birds’ gave themselves just a little under $6 million in spending money.

Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman might as well have a small fortune. If anyone can make $6 million look like $30 million, it’s good old Howie.

Might Philly make a move?

If the Eagles do intend to be players in the free agency market again, there are some legitimate options. Former Eagles Corey Graham and Cedric Thornton would be among the easiest additions as they already understand Philly’s system. ‘The Birds’ do, however, have young prospects at safety and Thornton isn’t on anyone’s list as the best defensive tackles in the league.

Here are five options the Eagles may consider:

1. Kenny Vaccaro, safety

Vaccaro is one of the remaining free agents who isn’t over 30. At 27, there’s plenty of tread left on the tire, and Philly will love his versatility. He can play both cornerback and safety.

2. Courtney Upshaw, defensive tackle

Courtney Upshaw is familiar with Joe Douglas from his days with the Ravens. The Eagles love versatility, and this defensive tackle has plenty of that. He’s also played both defensive end in the 4-3 and outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme.

3. Johnathan Hankins, defensive tackle

In five NFL seasons, Hankins has racked up 184 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles. He’s stout against the run and an attractive option for a team who will be without Timmy Jernigan for the foreseeable future.

4. NaVorro Bowman, linebacker

Bowman is a four-time All-Pro. He’s one of the more recognizable names on the free agent market, and he can give the Eagles depth with a linebacker who could start for quite a few NFL defenses, even at 30.

5. Karlos Dansby, linebacker

It feels like Dansby is 50 years old, but he isn’t. He’s 36, but a season ago he showed he was still productive, notching 95 tackles and an interception.
